Mahasakthi Welfare Society was founded and established by a group of women members as a social development and empowerment organization under the Tamilnadu Society Registration Act in the year 1998.

About Mahasakthi Welfare Society

Mahasakthi Welfare society was started in 1998. It is registered under the Tamil Nadu Association Registration Act with registration number 74/98. Our organization works for the development of women and children. Since 1998 onwards Our organization has started 650 self-help groups. From 2003 to 2011, Tamil Nadu Women's Development Corporation Chennai, Mahalir thittam, Theni District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) has given many awards for implementing government schemes. Five women's groups operating under Mahasakthi have received the district and state levels Manimekalai Award given by the Government of Tamil Nadu.

From 1989 to 1991, I worked as an unpaid publicist in the Arioli movement. Through this, I trained 150 illiterate women to read and write. Theni District Collector Mr. Dr. K. Sakthigopal presented me with a certificate of appreciation for my work in the Arioli movement on 1.1.1997. In 1991, the President of the Lions Club, Mrs. Vijayalakshmi, (Owner of the Suryanarayanan Theatre, Periyakulam), the Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers' Association and the Social Welfare Officer of the Periyakulam Panchayat Union appreciated my work. I used to provide free basket weaving, home decoration and tailoring training to rural women in Saruthupatti.

The Mahasakthi Welfare Society has been widely recognized for its impactful work in women empowerment and community development. Through its consistent efforts in uplifting women across various sectors, the organization has earned appreciation and awards from both government and private institutions.

Tailoring, computer training, handicrafts, and more to make women self-reliant.Creating handmade items like jewelry, embroidery, bags, and home décor to encourage creative entrepreneurship.

Regular medical camps and workshops on menstrual hygiene and nutrition.Promoting balanced diets, healthy cooking habits, and awareness of anemia, especially in young girls and mothers.

Members contribute small savings regularly, which can be used for internal lending and emergencies.

Global Peace University GPU - Chennai awarded "Honorary Doctorate in Social Work" to P. Kala, Secretary of Mahasakthi Welfare Society in recognition of her contribution.

District Collector Mr. Muthuveeran presented an award to Mahasakthi Welfare Society for achieving the hundred percent target under the 2009-2010 Women's Programmes.

On 27.09.2006, the Dinathanthi newspaper honored Mrs. Kala Palaniappan, Secretary of Mahasakthi Welfare Association, with the "Best Achiever" award at the "102nd Birthday Celebration of the Father of Tamil Nadu Thirumigu C.P.A. Adithanar and Muthamizha Cultural Arts Festival".

Hon. Sudarsan Nachiyappan MP, and Theni MP J.M. Haroon presented the award to KalaPalaniyappan for her service.

The "Gold Star Millennium" award and gold medal for outstanding social service were presented to Kala by the National Integrity Cultural Academy , A.S. Media Vision.

The Federation of Indian NGOs for Women's Development and Humanitarian Service (FNI), Trichy, presented the "Kaliyuga Bharathi" award to Kala Palaniyappan.

The National Integrity Cultural Academy and The Peaks Magazine Chennai proudly presented the “Bharat Jyoti Excellence Award” and medal to Kala Palaniappan on 27.10.18.

On 7.12.2022, the Tamil Nadu Alliance - (Dindigul) presented an award to Kala Palaniappan in recognition of her outstanding and dedicated services to vulnerable communities during the COVID-19 period.

On 7.12.2022, the Indian Foundation - Trichy presented the "Veermangai Nachiyar" award to Kala Palaiyappan.

On 5.3.23, Crest India Foundation Dharmapuri presented the , "Singa Pen "("Lion Woman") award to Kala Palaniappan on International Women's Day.

On 7.12.2022, the Tirupur People's Forum presented the "Award for Environmental Protection and Labour Rights" to Kala Palaniappan.

M3M Foundation - New Delhi presented the Triveni Award to Mahasakthi Welfare Society . Behalf of our NGO ,Puvaneswari CEO So presented it to the District Collector Mr. Ranjit Singh and received his blessings.

On 8.3.2020, in recognition of Mahasakthi's excellent work in the microfinance project, NABARD Bank, Theni Women's Project and ICICI Bank, Madurai jointly presented the” Best Performance Award” to Kala Palaniyappan

EDII - Periyakulam, Horticultural College and Research Institute and Tamil Nadu Agricultural University - Periyakulam. On 16.8.2022, Kala Palaniyappan was felicitated with the ''Semmai Mathar'' award.
